What to expect

Da Nang after 5pm is a different city — neon reflections on wet streets, smoke rising from charcoal grills, and the smell of lemongrass and shrimp paste drifting through the market lanes. This evening tour begins at Han Market, the city's oldest covered market, where your local food guide walks you through the spice stalls, the fresh herb section, and the impossibly colourful pile of tropical fruit. She knows every vendor by name and will translate the stories behind the ingredients.

From the market you move to a small cooking studio for a hands-on class making two Central Vietnamese classics — bánh mì from scratch and a bowl of phở bò. You'll eat what you cook. Then the group spills back into the streets for a guided crawl: bánh xèo (sizzling crepes), mì Quảng (turmeric noodles), bún bò Huế (spicy beef noodle soup), and more. The evening ends beside the illuminated Han River and the famous Dragon Bridge as the city glitters around you.

Meet your guide at Han Market's main entrance. Walk the spice lanes, fruit stalls, and fresh herb section. Learn to identify lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime, and the local dried shrimp paste.

Cooking Class — Bánh Mì & Phở
Hands-on class at a small local studio. You make bánh mì baguettes from dough and assemble them with house-pickled vegetables, pork pâté, and fresh herbs. Then a bowl of phở broth simmered with star anise and cinnamon.

Tasting Your Finished Dishes
Sit down together and eat what you made. Your guide shares the cultural history of each dish over the meal.
